The 4th Indian Gemmological Seminar (IGS-4) was held at Udaipur from 8th November to 12th November, 2002 with a grand splendor. The seminar was also a re-union of the members of the Forum of Indian Gemmologists. Delegates from all corner of India assembled at the lake-End Hotel, to share their views and exchange their ideas and knowledge about Gemstones. Over two hundred delegates from all states of India participated at the Seminar. Shri K. K. Sharma, Director, IDI, Surat was the convener of the Seminar.

More than 25 papers were presented at the Seminar. Shri Chandrakant Sanghavi, a very well known, and prominent Diamonataire from Surat was the Chief Guest on the occasion of the seminar. Mr. Sanghavi is also the convener of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council for the Gujarat region and also the Chairman of the Indian Diamond Institute, Surat.

Prof. A. K. Singh, vice-Chancellor, Mohanlal Sukhadia University Rajasthan was the Guest of Honour.

The 5th IGS will be held at Orissa under the convenership of Mrs. Nirupa Das from Orissa Mining corporation, Bhubaneshwar.

The next issue of the Indian Gemmologist will carry the full coverage of IGS-4 including the papers presented at the seminar.
