With a view to give an in depth knowledge and insight of the identification of synthetic and HPHT treated diamonds, Gemmological Institute of India conducted a seminar on “Synthetic Diamonds and HPHT Treated Natural Diamonds” on Saturday, the 21 st April, 2007 at 3.30 p.m. at Hotel Krishna Palace, Raas I & II, 96/98 Sleater Road, Nana Chowk, Mumbai – 400 007.

The seminar was arranged free of charge for the members of trade organisation of Bharat Diamond Bourse, Diamond Exporters’ Association Ltd., Mumbai Diamond Merchants Association.

The seminar was a great success and was attended by around 175 members from the trade.

The speakers of the seminar were Dr. Jayshree Panjikar & Dr. M. D. Sastry from the R & D Department of Gemmological Institute of India.

 Highlights of the seminar was :-

     What are synthetic diamonds?
     How they can be identified?
     Different kinds of diamonds which can be treated.
     How to identify HPHT treated diamonds?
     Question answer session.
     Sample of synthetic diamonds.

It was well attended by GII students and people from the Diamond Industry.
