
Distance education in Gemmology was initiated
by the GII for the 1st time in India in the year 1980. GII realised that
every on can not come to Bombay for the regular resident programme. GII
wants to reach out to the people who are really interested in the study
of gemstones around the country. |

| Home work Assignments | : | Home
work assignments form the first part of the course - 11 essay assignments
and 26 objective assignments which should be sunmitted to the Institute
as per schedules in the time table. Home work assignment marks will
be counted for qualifying in the examination. |
| Practicals | : | Practical
training forms the 2nd part of the course. The practicals at the Institute
will be for 15 days, full day sessions are held every day. Students
shall have to make their own arrangments for boarding and lodging in
Mumbai. Students are allowed to take up practical training and examinations
within 3 years from the year of enrollment. The practicals and the examinations are held in the month of December every year. |
