I welcome you to the Gemmological Institute of India, which we had established during the year 1971, with a view to impart scientific knowledge and propagate the science of gemstones in India. We really had a difficult time in convincing the Indian trading community the need for gemmological knowledge to deal along international standards. Nevertheless, the times have changed very fast. We are happy to note that the ambition we had in mind, while setting up the Institution for the benifit of our Industry, is nearing completion. We are here to enrich your knowledge in Gemstones and make you an expert in gemmology to the world standards. For seeking knowledge, age and position are no bar. It is just your interest that benefits you. I am proud to have with me a group of young, devoted and highly qualified instructors in this field. It is for you to take the best out of them.

       During the last 31 years of relentless efforts we have attained a very high standard of professionalism in teaching the science of gemstones. At GII the teaching is not a vocation, it is a mission for us.
